About Trygg
I've always had a passion for animals, and especially for dogs.
Growing up on a farm, I watched my father being followed everywhere by all kinds of animals — even the chickens. I remember thinking that was exactly the kind of life I wanted.
It wasn't until 2019, when I moved to Iceland, that I realised I wanted to work with dogs. While living there, I adopted Rocky, a neglected Border Collie, and he completely changed the way I saw dogs. I became fascinated by dog training, play, behaviour and the way dogs communicate.
I've been working as a dog walker since 2021 and have also had the opportunity to work alongside dog trainers and behaviourists. The more time I spent around dogs, the more interested I became in their behaviour, body language and, especially, how they like to play.
That's what eventually led me to start Trygg.
When I lived on a farm in Iceland, we didn't buy toys for Rocky. There were plenty of things around the farm that could be reused instead. His favourite was an old rubber milking teat that was no longer suitable for use.
He didn't care that it wasn't a "dog toy". He just loved playing with it.
That stayed with me. It made me think about how much we actually need to buy for our dogs — and how many materials already exist that could be given another purpose.
Trygg started from that idea: making dog products that are practical, enjoyable to use and give good materials another life.
I make each product myself, starting with materials I believe are worth working with, and I design them with real dogs and their behaviour in mind.
Trygg is made in Bristol, inspired by a life spent around animals and driven by a simple belief: dogs don't need more unnecessary stuff. They need things that make sense to them — and to the people who live with them.
